Closing Deadline
You have exactly 19 days left to save your academic year. Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, which we all commonly know as UPMSP, has officially started the registration process for the UP Board Compartment Form 2026. If you did not get the desired marks or unfortunately failed in one or two subjects — and honestly, this is worth knowing — this is your ultimate second chance. The online portal opened on 6 June 2026, and the last date to submit your application along with the fee is 27 June 2026.
Honestly, waiting till the last date is the biggest mistake you can make. The official website often slows down due to heavy traffic, and since the payment mode involves a physical bank challan — which surprised a lot of people — you need extra time to complete the process. Let us look at the exact steps, eligibility rules, and the hidden traps you must avoid to ensure your application gets accepted without any issues. Look — Here is the thing: many students think they can complete the entire process online from their mobile phones and sit back. That is not how UPMSP operates. The online application is a hybrid process where you need to register online, pay the fee offline via a bank, and then submit physical documents to your school principal. If you miss the physical submission, your admit card will not be generated.
Follow these step-by-step instructions carefully to avoid rejection:
The school principal will verify your details and officially upload them through the school login portal. Without the school principal's approval, your application is incomplete.
don't wait for a deadline extension. UPMSP rarely extends the dates for compartment exams because they have to conduct the test, evaluate the copies, and release the results quickly so students do not lose an entire academic year. Mark these dates on your calendar right away.

27 June 2026 is the hard stop for everything. If you fail to deposit the fee or submit the documents to your school by this date, you will have to repeat the entire year.
No excuses will be entertained by the board.
No sugarcoating here: you cannot apply for as many subjects as you want. The board has very strict rules regarding who can sit for these exams. Let us break down the eligibility criteria for both classes so you know exactly where you stand.
For Class 10 students, UPMSP offers two distinct options: Improvement and Compartment. It is vital to understand the difference between them before filling out the form.
Improvement Exam Eligibility: If you have failed in only one subject in your regular board results, you can apply for the Improvement exam to clear that specific paper and improve your overall percentage.
Compartment Exam Eligibility: If you have failed in two subjects, you are eligible for the Compartment exam. However, the catch is that you can only appear and apply for the examination in any one of those two failed subjects. Passing that one subject will make you eligible for an overall pass certificate.
For Class 12, the rules are slightly different and depend on your academic stream. The board is a bit more rigid here because of the complexity of the subjects.
Candidates appearing in Humanities (Arts), Science, and Commerce streams can apply for only one subject in the Compartmental Examination. If you have failed in more than one subject, you are unfortunately not eligible for the compartment exam and will have to repeat the year as a regular or private candidate.
For Agriculture Part 1 and Part 2, candidates who have failed in any one paper of the prescribed subjects are eligible.
Similarly, vocational stream students who failed in any one paper of their trade subject can apply for the compartment exam.
What nobody tells you is that the payment mode is the trickiest part of this entire process. UPMSP does not accept UPI, debit cards, credit cards, or net banking directly on their website. You must pay the fee through the E-Challan mode only.
This means you have to generate the challan online, print it out, and physically walk into a government treasury or an authorized bank branch to deposit the cash. Many students make the mistake of trying to transfer money online to the treasury account. Don't do this. The board's system will not recognize the transaction, and your application status will remain unpaid.
Always make sure the bank clerk correctly enters your registration details and roll number while processing the challan. Keep the stamped copy of the challan safe. It is your only proof of payment if any technical glitch occurs later.
The application fee for the UP Board Compartment Form 2026 is highly subsidized by the state government, making it extremely affordable for all students.
you must pay the exact amount down to the paisa.
| Class / Exam Type | Application Fee (INR) | Payment Mode Allowed |
|---|---|---|
| Class 10th High School (Improvement / Compartment) | Rs. 256.50/- | E-Challan Only |
| Class 12th Intermediate (Compartment) | Rs. 306/- | E-Challan Only |
Make sure you carry the exact change to the bank when depositing the fee. Any discrepancy in the fee amount on the challan and the portal will lead to the rejection of your application form.
Once you have filled out the online form and paid the fee, you must gather your documents and submit them to your school. The school principal will not forward your application to the board without these papers.
Here is the checklist of documents you need to prepare:
Pro Tip: Make two photocopies of the entire set. Keep one set with you as a backup and get the school clerk to sign a receipt on your copy when you submit the original set. This is your insurance policy if the school misplaces your documents.
Right, so you have registered and submitted your documents. Now what? The real challenge begins now. Many students take the compartment exam lightly, thinking the board will pass them easily. The truth is, the evaluation is just as strict as the main exams.
You need to study smart. Focus on the chapters that carry the maximum weightage. Since you only have to prepare for one subject, you can easily dedicate 4 to 5 hours daily to it. Go through the official exam pattern and solve at least the last three years' question papers. Most of the questions in compartment exams are repetitive and follow a predictable pattern.
Do not try to learn new topics at the last minute. Master the topics you already know to secure the passing marks comfortably. Your goal is not to top the exam; your goal is to pass and get your certificate.
